architecture [Competition entry] AISA – New Gymnasium
The design intention is to link two adjacent facilities - the new gymnasium facility with the existing swimming pool complex within a shared area of spaces. The façade of the building depicts that of an equaliser, a device that allows for adjusting the energy levels of specific frequency bands to activate optimal harmony. In a way this is what we would like this facility to do; help young athletes to optimize their physical development and wellbeing.
The facility focuses on a multi-purpose court area with and retractable bleachers surrounded by a mezzanine which forms an elliptical indoor running track creating a stadium like space, which is the school’s main court facility. The project also includes ablutions and changing facilities, fitness gym, dance studio and classroom. |
