The new building provides much needed high tech facilities for the experimental and research aspects of Du Pont Pioneer’s agricultural work. A number of significant green initiatives were prioritised and implemented in the building including:
Focusing on energy efficiency, the building is designed around a courtyard, the insulated and shaded roof slab forms part of the thermal mass reducing HVAC demand, and the windows are shaded from direct summer sun by sunscreens. Cladding the building in local stone which is removed from the agricultural land A substantial PV system to provide 100% of the annual demand for the building with renewable electrical energy. A sewer treatment plant for the entire campus and will reduce the buildings environmental footprint. |
