Activate directors founded the IKUSASA trust in 2009 in an effort to merge the challenges and opportunities of climate change and sustainable urban and rural environments with that of broad based black economic empowerment.

IKUSASA is set up in accordance with the amended DTI BEE Codes of Good Practice and the trust addresses objectives outlined in terms economic interest by broad based black ownership schemes, skills development for companies who aim to make a corporate social investment in the South African economy.

Focused on skills development of future ‘black female South African’ professionals who are passionate about a sustainable future, IKUSASA in partnership with Activate aims to grow leader quality built environment professionals in practice.

The trust is set up to generate income through:
  • minority shareholding in businesses who share this vision and see value in investing in BBBEE.
  • offer solutions for focused workplace skills development initiatives.

The trustees are: Paul Kapelus, Michael Magner, Siza Majola (Chairman), Buhle Mothole, Nirvana Pillay and Nkosi Ndlovu
